Glucophage (Metformin) is an oral diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels. Glucophage is for people with type 2 diabetes. Glucophage is sometimes used in combination with insulin or other medications, but it is not for treating type 1 diabetes. Glucophage may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Aricept(Donepezil HCl) is a prescription medicine to treat mild, moderate, and severe Alzheimer's disease. Before starting on Aricept 23 mg/day, patients should be on Aricept 10 mg/day for at least 3 months. The starting dose of Aricept is 5 mg/day and can be increased to 10 mg/day after 4–6 weeks. Pantoprazole (Protonix) is in a class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPI) which block the production of acid by the stomach. Other drugs in the same class include Lansoprazole (Prevacid), Omeprazole (Prilosec) and Rabeprazole (Aciphex). Proton pump inhibitors are used for the treatment of conditions such as ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome that are caused by stomach acid.
Baclofen is an oral and injectable medication that relaxes skeletal muscles, the muscles that move the skeleton (and also called striated muscle). Chemically, baclofen is related to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a naturally-occurring neurotransmitter in the brain. Neurotransmitters are chemicals that nerves use to communicate with one another. GABA released by some nerves causes the activity of other nerves to decrease.
